Guido Salza

About

Guido Salza is Ph.D. in Sociology and Methodology of Social Research and is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Milan at the Department of Political and Social Sciences. His research interests lie in the area of sociology of education and educational inequalities, focusing in particular on school and academic achievement, educational policies, and quantitative methods. He is a trained researcher that can build and manage large datasets with complex structures (e.g., hierarchical or longitudinal data). He is an experienced Stata user with solid R and Python programming knowledge (e.g., Pandas, Numpy, BeautifulSoup). Guido is also interested in collecting new observational data from web-scraping techniques. He has participated in or promoted several research activities. Among other things, he was recently responsible for designing and implementing a survey funded by the British and Irish Law Education Technology Association. At the University of Luxembourg, he worked as a member of the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) to investigate the effects of digitalization on young people’s life chances. Before moving to Milan, Guido completed a Post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Trento, where he is member of the Trento Center for Social Research Methods, the Center for Social Inequality Studies, and the Inequalitrees Project (as Research Advisor). Guido has presented at several international conferences and seminars (e.g., RC28 and ECSR), and his work has been published in the journals Research in Social Stratification and Mobility, Socio-economic Planning Science, and Scuola Democratica- Learning for Democracy.
